Auction Data APIs For Smarter Vehicle Listings
Get every lot listed faster, easier to trust, and simpler to bid on. Vehicle Databases gives auction platforms the APIs to read a VIN from a photo, fill in the lot details, show past auction history, and screen for salvage titles and theft before a vehicle goes to sale.
Lookup Auction History
The Vehicle Auction Data API Suite
Every auction page starts with the same question from buyers: what do we know about this vehicle's past? The Auction History API answers it directly.

Complementary APIs

VIN Decoder API
Complete auction records with available vehicle specifications, engine information, color options, and packages.
Market Value API
Explore available dealer, private-sale, and trade-in market value based on vehicle condition.
Title Check API

What the Auction History API Returns
Hereβs what to expect from the API:
Sale and Lot Details
- Sale price for historical pricing context.
- Sale status showing the recorded outcome.
- Auction date for event chronology.
- Auction location for regional context.
- Lot number linking the record to its original listing.
Condition, Damage, and Title
- Primary damage classification.
- Secondary damage classification where available.
- Recorded title type and description.
- Estimated repair costs where reported.
Odometer and Auction Photos
- Odometer readings recorded at auction.
- Exterior and interior images.
- Damage-area and component photos where available.
- Up to 10+ high-resolution images per event, if available.
Important: Values reflect the record as documented at the time of the auction. Some fields may be missing, unknown, or marked N/A. Historical photos and condition records do not establish the vehicle's current condition.

How Auction Platforms Use the Data
Four ways to make auction and vehicle data useful within your own product.
Listing Enrichment

Buyer-Facing Detail Pages
Show prior auction appearances, damage classifications, title descriptions, and photos so buyers can research the vehicle before bidding.
Inventory and Pricing Decisions
Use available sale prices and recorded condition as historical benchmarks. Add the Market Value API when your workflow needs estimated market values.
Historical Trend Analysis
Analyze returned records by attributes such as year, make, damage type, and location. Confirm bulk access and licensing for large-scale research.

FAQs on APIs for Auction Platforms
What data points does the auction history API return?
Available fields include sale price, sale status, auction date, location, lot number, damage classifications, title type, estimated repair costs, odometer readings, and photos. Some values may be missing or marked unknown or N/A.
Is the auction data a live bidding feed?
No. The database is constantly updating as records come in from our sources. It is intended for vehicle history research and lookup, not live bids, bidding transactions, or auction management.
Can auction data support used-car pricing and valuation?
Yes, historic sale prices can be used as benchmarks if these are used while considering sale condition, date, and location. A dedicated market value API can include estimated valuations.
Are classic vehicles with short VINs supported?
Yes, Vehicle Databases supports pre-1981 vehicles with 5β14-character VINs alongside standard 17-character VINs. Availability of a matching auction record still depends on dataset coverage.
Does the API build or host our auction listings?
No. The APIs return data. Your application does everything else including rendering, hosting, user access, transactions, and any auction-management features.
Can I use more than one API in the same workflow?
Yes. A typical platform workflow can start with VIN OCR or a plate lookup, decode the VIN, retrieve auction history, then add specifications, valuation estimates, or title research through separate endpoints.
